Spring and summer are the best time to go to the flower fields and summers ourselves with flower colours and get those fantastic shots we love so much.
There’s something truly magical about wandering through a vibrant flower field-the explosion of colors, the delicate petals swaying in the breeze, and the natural light that seems to dance among the blooms. For photographers, flower fields offer an incredible opportunity to create stunning images filled with life and color.
Often clients love sessions in the flower field to enjoy the most of the short summer with their families.

1. ChoosING the Right Time of Day
Lighting is everything in photography. The best times to shoot in flower fields are:
- Golden hour: Early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight is soft and warm.
- Overcast days: Clouds diffuse sunlight, reducing harsh shadows and creating even lighting.
Avoid the midday sun, which can be too harsh and wash out the colors.
2. CHOOSING THE RIGHT MONTH
- Some months can be more rainy than others so it's best to be prepare. Bring umbrella, rain or shine.
- July and August could be the hottest month. Hand fan is recommended.
- Babies, infants or animals need to stay extra hydrated. Bring water at all times.
3. CHOOSING THE RIGHT OUTFIT
- Flowers come out during hot season so it's good to wear light clothing.
- Light colours and white usually tend to be more fresh and can contrast better against flowers.
- Walking may be required since flower fields can be very large areas, it is important to bring comfortable shoes.
- Try not to wear any graphics, platted or colourful colours as they can get lost. The main focus is the model, the flowers are spectators.
4. Experiment with Different Perspectives
- While walk around I will be asking you to pose in different spots around the flowers: squatting, running, laying down on the grass.
- Having a blanket to protect your skin from spines, grass, branches or insects is recommended.
5. Include a pet in the shoot.
Be aware that ticks are present in the woods and field through the whole warm season in Canada. Make sure your pet is protected against ticks and heart-worm.
